Pac West Hub helps Washington households and neighborhoods stay in touch when the power, cell or internet goes down. It has plain guides to family plans, phones and satellite texting, weather radio, FRS and GMRS, ham radio and LoRa mesh, and a directory of the community meshes, emergency hub programs and emergency comms groups in all 39 counties.
Plans before gear
In real disasters, trained people and practiced plans have mattered more than equipment. So we start with plans and habits, then explain each tool, including what it doesn’t do. No single tool covers every outage, and community radio and meshes are best-effort backups run by volunteers. In an emergency, call 911 if you can.

LoRa radios only talk to radios on the same protocol and settings. Rather than recommend one, we show what the group in each county publishes, so you can match it. We explain the FCC rules neutrally and never call a group’s settings legal or illegal.
How it’s made
Research is done with the help of AI agents and checked against published sources: the groups’ own sites, government pages and the FCC’s rules. Every listing is reviewed by a person before it appears. See how we list for what we check and what we never publish.
No ads, no affiliate links
We don’t accept payment for listings, rankings or guide mentions, and we don’t use affiliate links. Analytics are cookieless; your light or dark theme choice is stored only in your browser.
