The Disaster Hubs program is a partnership between the community, the owners of hub locations and Bainbridge Prepares. Hubs are spread across Bainbridge Island so that most neighborhoods are within walking distance. After a major disaster, such as an earthquake that cuts the island off, hubs focus on first aid and sharing information, with limited shelter, food, water and emotional support.

The Hubs team recruits and trains volunteers and maintains the sites. The group’s radio team (BEARS) trains people on ham radio and other backup communications. Individual hub sites and their volunteers are not listed here.

Hubs are a gathering point, not an emergency service. Call 911 if you can.

Before you rely on any group: contact them, join a practice net or drill, and keep calling 911 first whenever you can.
