Kitsap County’s CERT program trains residents to take care of themselves during emergencies and to help their neighbors, and builds a pool of volunteers for major emergencies. Training is free and open to anyone in Kitsap County aged 18 or over. Courses run on weekday evenings and Saturdays over a few weeks, and you must attend every unit to finish.

KCDEM ran a course in May 2026 and has announced another starting in November 2026.

Volunteers serve through the program, not on their own: register as an emergency worker through the sponsoring agency before you help in an emergency.

Before you rely on any group: contact them, join a practice net or drill, and keep calling 911 first whenever you can.
