Lewis County’s CERT program is open to people who live in the county. Training mixes online and in-person sessions. After the CERT basic course, volunteers choose a pathway: team volunteer, team leader or section chief. Each has its own set of FEMA independent-study courses, such as the incident command and national incident management introductions.

The county posts CERT events on its emergency management site.

Volunteers serve through the program, not on their own: register as an emergency worker through the sponsoring agency before you help in an emergency.

Before you rely on any group: contact them, join a practice net or drill, and keep calling 911 first whenever you can.
