Puget Mesh is a volunteer group that builds and supports community-owned radio networks across the Puget Sound region. Its main network runs MeshCore, a low-power LoRa text messaging system that relies on fixed repeaters. It also documents AREDN, a high-speed data mesh that needs an amateur radio license, and keeps a page for its older Meshtastic network.

The group publishes its MeshCore radio settings, a repeater setup guide and write-ups of its 2026 backhaul tests on its own site. Most day-to-day discussion happens on the group’s Discord; official enquiries go to the role address on its About page.

Before you buy a radio, match the protocol and settings the group publishes; a radio on different settings will not hear the local mesh. Call 911 if you can. Mesh and radio are best-effort backups, and coverage varies with terrain, weather and how many nodes are on the air.

Before you rely on any group: contact them, join a practice net or drill, and keep calling 911 first whenever you can.
