Amateur radio emergency group listed by Yakima County. It supports the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management and the Yakima County Sheriff's Office.
Yakima County’s volunteer page lists the Yakima County ARES/RACES group among ways to help. The group supports agencies in the Yakima Valley, including the Yakima Valley Office of Emergency Management and the Sheriff’s Office.
The group’s old web address did not respond when we checked, so use the county’s volunteer page to get in touch. You need an amateur radio license to take part.
Volunteers serve through the program, not on their own: register as an emergency worker through the sponsoring agency before you help in an emergency.
Before you rely on any group: contact them, join a practice net or drill, and keep calling 911 first whenever you can.
